Doug Wiles is a life-long resident of St. Augustine where has been a risk manager and insurance agent since 1979. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a BS in Journalism.
In 2004, Doug completed an eight-year tenure as a State Representative, representing District 20, covering parts of St. Johns, Flagler, Clay and Volusia Counties. In his final term he served as Minority Leader of the Florida House of Representatives. Doug is a 2004 recipient of the First Amendment Foundation’s Peter Wenzel Award for his work to forward and defend Florida’s open government laws.
He is a retired lieutenant colonel in the Florida Army National Guard, having served more than 25 years. For much of his career, Doug served as a public affairs officer, working closely with local, state and national media.
In 2017 Doug was elected chairman of the Florida Association of Independent Agents, which provides assistance to and advocates for insurance agencies and the consumers they serve. He holds the professional designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter and Accredited Advisor in Insurance
Doug has worked with a number of local community service organizations, He is married to Doris, and are the parents of two daughters and have six grandchildren.
